I’m Cindy Cardwell the Founder and Owner of Caring Senior Choices, an advisory firm built on a desire to help individuals and their family/loved ones navigate the options for senior living. Today, more than ever, we have access to products, services and senior living communities to meet a variety of needs as we age. At Caring Senior Choices we ensure you and your family have the knowledge to make an informed decision that supports your desired lifestyle.
What drew me to this mission?
My mother. Perhaps not unlike you, I was working full time in a job that required travel, raising our children and coming to the realization that mom was starting to show signs of dementia. She was 89, a widow for 25+ years, lived alone and it was apparent to my brothers and me that this was no longer a safe living arrangement. To say it was stressful and overwhelming trying to find the right solution to help her is an understatement. Luckily, we had a few friends who worked in the field of senior living and were able to provide limited guidance but overall it was an extremely difficult time for my mother and the family. That experience underscored for me the value of a personalized service such as Caring Senior Choices, and how it can greatly benefit others facing these critical life-event decisions
My journey to Caring Senior Choices
My career began as an Information Technology recruiter finding and matching individuals to the many hard to fill positions as companies were rapidly growing their IT departments. Those skills accelerated my career in the field of Human Resource with my last position in a corporate environment as Vice President. From there I spent the next 20 years in consulting partnering with global HR teams as technology began to influence and change the way we worked. I was fortunate to join several boutique firms, all of which were eventually acquired by large firms, and traveled across many countries working with diverse teams facilitating complex evaluation and selection processes. Throughout this journey our skills were constantly challenged as we were on the ground floor of developing the ‘new way’ of organizing business.
The foundation of my career has always been about people and helping them navigate change. No matter your age, change can be difficult. Through my life experiences I am committed to creating a highly personalized service based on trust and knowledge; educating myself in this rapidly changing industry earning the following certifications to better serve you; Certified Senior Advisor (CSA®) and Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS).
I’m excited to share the same passion and work ethic of bringing two diverse parties (teams) together – individuals and their family/loved ones who are evaluating lifestyle-living decisions with options for senior living; whether that requires identifying modifications to live safely in your home or introductions to a select group of accredited, first-rate senior living communities that offer a consortium of care and services.
On a personal note
My husband, John, and I grew up in Northeast Ohio and raised our two sons in Bainbridge Township. You can find me most mornings walking in the park with our white golden retriever, Chloe. Our family embraces all things Cleveland taking advantage of Lake Erie, fabulous park systems, sport teams, entertainment and excellent restaurants.
